As SVP, Chief Information Officer, Jody oversees the overall technology development and operations of the company. A fountainhead of ideas and a true technology early adopter, Jody is continuously creating scalable solutions for the business and ensuring the integrity of all information systems and flows. Jody was part of the inaugural team at Shopzilla, then Bizrate, joining the company as employee #11. A shopaholic by nature, it didn’t take much to convince Jody to join the 10-person office in January 1999. In the formative years, Jody built the company’s data plumbing and suite of management tools, which included: the database architecture, data center management, and network infrastructure. Jody continued to wear multiple hats as a Shopzillan until he was appointed Chief Information Officer in 2006.
Prior to Shopzilla, Jody spent several years at William O’Neil & Co, an institutional investment company where he cut his teeth in the fast paced, high volume, zero-fail environment of finance. Jody was an integral part of the team that brought the flagship WONDA product to the Internet, which reduced costs for the company by $2.5MM annually. Jody then helped expand the market for the WONDA product by launching a feature limited version as Daily Graphs online, a consumer focused investment research product. In 1998 Jody joined Isocor where he was in charge of developing its web presence. In December of that year, he decided to take a call from a fledgling company (BizRate) that was pitching an idea about online shoppers and merchant ratings. To this day, he credits that call as one that “changed his life.”
Born in the great state of Texas, Jody attended military school and got his degree in shenanigans before moving to California, a place he has been happy to call home for the past 20+ years. Jody attended the University of Southern California and graduated from the Entrepreneur program with a BS in Business Administration and a concentration in Information Systems.
When he’s not getting tempted to shop the latest Puma collection, Jody is often found on the slopes of Mammoth Mountain, enjoying the best snowboarding California has to offer. One day, Jody hopes to get another mountain view by completing his mission to climb to the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
