Proudest Shopzilla moment: “In 2002 when my BizRace team beat Brad’s team for the 1st place trophy. In ‘Amazing Race’ fashion, we started the first event dead last and caught up throughout the day. That was also the day I learned the motto: ‘It doesn’t matter if we come in 2nd to last, as long as we beat Brad’s team.”
As SVP of Finance & Accounting, Lonna Bell Rimestad oversees all financial functions of the company’s US and European based operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, security and compliance. Lonna joined Shopzilla as Controller in April 2002, was named VP of Finance & Accounting in 2004, and became SVP of Finance and Accounting in April 2010. Lonna was a central force in planning and setting up the company’s first international office in London, ensuring the secure implementation of integrated and efficient financial systems and controls. In June 2005, Lonna played a vital role in the acquisition of Shopzilla by E.W. Scripps, effectively leading the company through the transition to reporting as a public company and maintaining near flawless SEC and SOX compliance.
Before joining Shopzilla, Lonna held the position of Finance Manager at Syncata Corporation, a consulting firm specializing in automotive and industrial manufacturing technology. While there, Lonna helped the company implement the Solomon project accounting system and a new budgeting platform. Lonna also previously served as a Senior Auditor for Deloitte & Touche LLP, where she assisted in the acquisition of LA-based Landmark Theaters and worked with clients such as Northrop Grumman.
Lonna is a CPA and holds a BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington. She is a member of the AICPA and serves as Treasurer of her church, Beach Cities Christian Fellowship.
In her free-time, Lonna loves adventure sports and traveling. She has hiked Macchu Pichu, cycled through Barcelona, and ran the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon. Lonna wishes she had more time in the day, so that she could spend more time volunteering and helping others. One day she hopes to retire and become a full-time volunteer. Lonna and her husband, Jason, live happily in Hermosa Beach, CA.
